People Are Awful...

I've asked the question of some people, "What is the root of all evil?" Of course the answer I usually get is, "money." Even though this might be the most popular answer, it isn't correct. The line is actually derived from 1Timothy chapter 6: verse 10. It reads, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." Or something like that. So the answer from the quote everyone misremembers is the love of money. But, sadly, even that's wrong. Gasp you should. I just said something out of The Bible isn't right. So that, of course, means that I hate The Bible, don't believe in Jesus (because to many, he himself wrote it) and that I'll be roasting s'mores in Hell with Carrot Top. You know, you can disagree with something, whole or part, even though your Sunday school teacher told you a crow would snatch your pecker off if you looked at it. Hmm. Think I got crossed up with something else there. Let's continue and not dwell on it. "So, Mr. Smarty Pants", you probably haven't made it this far, but I like to pretend anyone has, so I imagine you're saying, "What! Is! The root of all evil? Knievel?" No. Stop it. The root of all evil is... people.

That's right. Us. What is evil? How is evil quantified? More importantly who decides all that stuff? People. Basically money and evil are inventions of ours. Look at any other species on the planet. Have you every witnessed anything in the animal kingdom where an animal will fuck over another in conniving, underhanded manner just to have what the other has? This kinda happens with being territorial and what not, but it's instinct. Survival. And that is also innate within us, but people suck so we've taken something natural and have turned it into a shit show. I mean, penguins give each other pebbles, but they were born in formal dress so they don't count. But think about it. Look, spreading rumors about Becky at school so she'll be too depressed to be at the big sale this weekend so you have one less person to shop against isn't exactly survival of the fittest. If people didn't (I think invent is to strong of a term...) exacerbate greed and make it a way of life, would evil be what it is today? I'm sure it would still exist. Of course it would because people would be around to declare things as evil.

Since the dawn of man (woman, trans, chair leg, level 72 orc with +5 charisma) someone has hated somebody for something somewhere. And the same thing goes for wanting each others' shit. Have you ever seen a bear hire another bear to kill his bear wife so he could go fuck another bear? Have you ever seen a giraffe collect a multi-million leaf salary despite the rest of the tower (yeah. That's what a group of giraffes is called. Thanks, Google.) starving and falling apart just to pack up and "retire" to Florida leaving everyone else destitute? Yes. Animals get territorial and fight. Sometimes they get jealous of each other. But it's all sooo different than what we make it. It isn't evil.

Alright. I'm not trying to embark on some animals are better than people Peta-fetish rant. My ultimate point is that evil really only exists at all in the world because we are around to say what is and isn't evil and perpetrate it upon one another. Thus, we are the root of it. I guess.
